Book Title: Babyland by Holly Chamberlin 

Reflect 

I really like the character of the main character-Anna Traulsen, her bravery, her honesty and her open mindness. I really like her attitude. She had everything and when she got pregnant her life changed, but still she did not abort the child. She was not yet ready to become a mother but she still accepted it. I admire her character,when she went out her comfort zone and did the things that she wants. She fell in love again and grabbed the oppurtunity to win the heart of the man she loves. Falling in love again is a very brave thing to do. When she got miscarriage, she continued her life, even though she was badly hurt, and move on. She never thought that is just the beggining of a life. A life that is full of surprises and freedom. 

Connect 

This story reminds me of our society. In the generation nowadays, women get pregnant unplanned specially the young ones. Teenagers engage to premarital sex and when they got pregnant they blame thier child for coming into thier lives. In this novel, Anna had a wonderful life. A stable job, a happy love life and a life she wants. Because of this, she never planned to get pregnant and have a child. Many young persons never wanted to have a child at their young age but I believe that I person can never be pregnant if she really never want to. She will not engage to premarital sex which she knows she can be pregnant. Unplanned pregnancy- this is the common thing that this novel and our society has. 

Question 

I wonder why Anna never thought that his ex-fiance -Ross Davis, could be a gay? Ross is a guy who takes care of hiself a lot and a soft-type guy. When she got pregnant, Ross did not like to make love to her and he lost his interest on her but never on her wildest dreams, she imagined that Ross is a gay and she never accepted it. I always thought that when a person is in love, he/she can not like or can have a crush on another person but why did Anna felt a little crush on Jack Coltrane? Could anyone really like another person even if he/she is already in love? Or its just Anna never loved Ross as his one big great love? Did he not love Ross as the one that she will love forever? Did she thought that she can love another person more than he loved Ross? Did she liked Jack even before she met Ross? 

Predict 

I think that Anna and Ross can have a happy marriage life even though they did not planned to have a child. I'am expecting that Anna can be a great mom and she will love her new life. I also think that she and Ross will have more children.

Part two 

9. Anna Traulsen is a brave woman, she have a life that she wants but when she got pregnant, without her control, she still continued her pregnancy and she did not abort the child. When she got miscarriage she never stopped her life. When she and Ross broke up, she never closed her heart on falling in love again with his friend, Jack, and now they have a happy life together. 

Ross Davis is the ex-fiance of Anna, like Anna he also never wanted to have a child but he accepted it. Their relationship failed because there is still something that Ross wants to have. He is a type of guy that is so conscious about himself and always cares to what other people says. 

Jack Coltane is the friend of Ann who have a feeling for her. He was the opposite of Ross. He was an arrogant, a serious and he never cared what others will say to him type of guy. When Ross left Anna, he was there and he never left Anna. They are happy now with their life together.

At first, I was confused about its idea. Life being delicious but not certain? Could that be possible? I mean how can life be delicious when things fall down and things happen beyond your control? How can life be delicious but at the same uncertain? But later I realized that it does make sense. Even if life is uncertain or things happen without your control it is still delicious-sweet, because everything will fall down right in to its perfect place and it is for your best. Even if things go wrong, and it changes, it will still be tasty and delicious because it could be a blessing in disguise.

10. My favorite part is when Anna fell in love again with Jack Coltrane. it is my favorite part because for me, falling in love again is a brave thing. it takes a lot of courage to let yourself fall in love even if you are badly hurt to your first love. You should never be afraid to take the risk to fall in love again.Loving a person is a magic, and loving you back is a blessing. You should always try to fall in love again and believe at second chances. Not all people are given the chance to be love by the one that she loves. One should treasure what she has while it is there.

Book Title: Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne 

Reflect 

I was very amazed with the courage that Mr. Lindeinbrock has. He was very brave to go to the center of the earth. He never lost hope that he can reach the center. He is also an intelligent scholar. His intelligence and cleverness is what I admire the most. His mind always works and finds bright ideas. He always finds answers to Axel's question and gives solutions to thier problem. 

Connect 

This story reminds me of the movie "National Treasure" starring Nicholas Sparks because both of them tells not only stories but knowledge about how amazing our world can be. In the movie, they found the treasure by following many difficult clues and solving many problems and in the novel, they travelled to the center of the earth and they went to many challenges and overcome them. Both of them lost hope at the middle of their stories, that they will never find what their looking for and it does not exist, but they still continued to find it and they never gave up which led them to victory. Eventhough in the novel Mr. Lideinbrock, Axel and Hans never reached the center of the earth it is still a victory because they are still alive. In the movie, they found the treasure and became successful. Although they are both Science Fiction, I was really convinced that some of the events happened and it is true. 

Question 

I wonder why Mr. Lindeinbrock really wanted to go the center of the earth. I know that he is a scholar but why did he chose to go to a journey even if he is not sure if he can reach the center of the earth. I also wonder why the author did not made the characters of the novel reach the center of the earth. I could not also understand, in the last part, why he made the direction of the compass point south which they thought north and led them to disaster. 

Prediction 

I think that they will reach the center of the earth and they will be famous when they go back to the land. I think that they can encourage many people to explore the earth. I also think that the attitude of Axel's uncle will change and he will marry Grauben.

Part two 

8. I really thought that the main character can reach the center of the earth but it not happened. I was really confused why the author mixed up the events and did not made the characters reach the center of the earth. I don't really understand his point or purpose on doing that. In the second to the last chapter, I can almost see the end, things began to change. I thought that event would bring them to the center of the earth but I was wrong. The decision they made brought them to a disaster. They thought that the arrow of the compass still points at the north but because of some electromagnetic activity, it changed the position of the arrow and it turned to be pointing at the south. They disovered it when they were out of the volcano. I felt really sad when they did not reached the center of the earth. Their journey has been difficult and they deserved to reach the center of the earth. Up to now, I'am still finding reasons on the author's purpose, is it for the best? 

5. In the first part Axel's Uncle-Otto Lindeinbrock, was very serious and a stone-hearted guy. They have stock of food supplies. They always have hope that they can reach the center of the earth and believed that Akne Saknussemm is right. The needle points at the north. 

I discovered that Axel's Uncle is also a kind and soft hearted man because he always think on.the situation of Axel. The first thing that I feared is the food supplies. I thought that their food will not last and they will starve to death but Axel's uncle brought many foods which can last for three more months. In the middle part of the story, they almost lose their hope but they regained it when they found a clue that Saknussemm went to that direction. When they sailed across the wide ocean, they thought that they reached the other part of of the ocean but they realized that they just thrown back by the waves to where they started. Theylost hope but it turned to be a blessing in disguise because that was where the center of the earth is located. After they land on the island, they traveled the island by following the compass pointing to north and discovered a cave which lies the center of the earth. There was a big stone covering the opening of the cave and they exploded it. That was a wrong decision. There are waters behind that rock which carried them to the top of the volcano and they lost their food supplies. Soon they realized that the neddle points south that caused them to go to the opposite direction. If the neddle still points at the north, I think they will reach the center of the earth.
